Fatal Overdose Risk Factors: COVID-19 Edition

The presentation will cover overdose rates historically and the impact COVID has had on the increase in 2020; Demographics and social factors of those who have fatally overdosed; and will cover the 12 counties this Medical Examiner Office serves.
Chloe Bielby finished her Master of Public Health degree with an epidemiology emphasis in 2019 and began working at Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine in 2020. She works in the Medical Examiner Office in the Department of Pathology as the Pathology Analyst where she collects and disseminates data on all fatal overdoses that occur in the 13 counties this office serves. She is working on several projects with the goal of preventing future drug-related deaths.
