Opioid Use Disorders in Pregnancy

Nancy Renn-Bugai – Spectrum Health GREAT MOMs Program

This presentation will discuss recommendations for treatment during pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum for pregnant women with an opioid use disorder and care of the mother-infant dyad.


Nancy Renn-Bugai MSN, CNM,DNP obtained her Masters in Nursing Science with a focus on Midwifery from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan and her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Madonna University, Livonia, Michigan. Over the years, she has developed an interest in women who suffer with substance use disorders and childhood trauma. She created, with the help of an addiction medicine physician, a multidisciplinary and inter-professional program for pregnant women with Opioid Use Disorders called GREAT MOMs. She is a member of ACNM, AANP, ASAM (Addiction Society of Addiction Medicine) and International Nurses Society on Addictions (IntNSA).
