Empowering Our Community: NARCAN Awareness Comes to Town Through CMREN and The River Community Center

The River Community Center organized a Narcan training and distribution event for its board members and volunteers.
The River Community Center organized a Narcan training and distribution event for its board members and volunteers.

CMREN provided a Narcan training and distribution opportunity at the River Community Center for 21 community members who provide critical resources through The River Community Center, Hope Chest Pantry, and area churches. What began as a training evolved into the creation of community-trusted messenger advocates, equipping them to tackle the opioid crisis in their neighborhoods through enhanced knowledge and the correct use of naloxone. Importantly, the sessions addressed misunderstandings about opioid use disorder and life-saving medications, equipping advocates to combat stigma and share accurate information with the communities they support.
